Del Monte Beach in Monterey is an exposed beach break that usually has waves. Winter is the favoured time of year for surfing here. Works best in offshore winds from the south southeast. Most of the surf here comes from groundswells and the best swell direction is from the northwest. Waves at the beach are both lefts and rights. Best around mid tide when the tide is rising. Unlikely to be too crowded, even when the surf is up. Watch out for rips and sharks.
