Estero del Platano in Esmiraldas is an exposed beach and reef break that has pretty consitent surf. Winter and spring are the favoured times of year to visit. The best wind direction is from the east southeast. Groundswells more frequent than windswells and the best swell direction is from the northwest. Both left and right reef breaks. Unlikely to be too crowded, even when the surf is up. Hazards include rocks and sharks.
