Lagundri - The Point in Nias, Hinako Islands is an exposed reef break that has very consistent surf. May-Oct (Dry Season) is the favoured time of year for waves. Offshore winds are from the northwest. Groundswells more frequent than windswells and the ideal swell direction is from the southwest. A right hand reef break. When the surf is up, it can get quite busy in the water. Watch out for urchins, rips and rocks.

Surfed Nias back in the 80's, mozzies not very friendly back then, haven't been back since then. Can anyone tell me what its like now for Mozzies as I have had Ross River and Dengue since and Now I am very conscious of where I go.Let me tell you, you don't want to get dengue it makes you super weak and will leave you with a rash like you've never seen, also 4 days in a clinical diseases ward, been woken every 3 hours with panadol as it is the only thing that keeps it at bay.
Would like very much to know if its any easier to get there now other than by land and very slow water travel.
Does anyone have any good deals for Nias of where to stay and how to get there other than the obvious surf camp people and charters.
Heard that the tsunami has made it even more perfect is that possible !!!!??????
We had it like Thornton Fallander had it back in the day and absolutely like oil slick conditions with not a drop of water out out of place, surfed it with single fin 7'1" so clean and round.
