North Piha in West Coast Auckland is an exposed beach break that has fairly consistent surf and can work at any time of the year. Offshore winds blow from the east. Waves can be ok even in light onshore winds Groundswells and windswells are equally likely and the ideal swell direction is from the southwest. Prevailing left breaking waves at the beach break. Best around high tide when the tide is rising. A fairly popluar wave that can sometimes get crowded Watch out for rips and rocks.
