Periwinkles in East London is an exposed reef break that has pretty consitent surf. Summer offers the best conditions for surfing. The best wind direction is from the northwest. Easily blown out by onshore winds Groundswells more frequent than windswells and the optimum swell angle is from the east southeast. Best around low tide. It's sometimes crowded here. Take care of rocks, sharks,kelp.
