Playa de la Cagonera in Asturias is a sheltered beach break that has fairly consistent surf. Winter is the best time of year for surfing here. Offshore winds blow from the southwest. Waves just as likely from local windswells as from distant groundswells and the ideal swell direction is from the northwest. The beach breaks favour lefts. Best around low tide. When it's working here, it can get crowded. Dangerous rips are a hazard of surfing here.
