The rose diagram shows the range of swells directed at Viri Inga O Tuki through a typical April and is based upon 3360 NWW3 model predictions since 2007 (values every 3 hours). The wave model does not forecast wind or surf right at the coast so we have chosen the optimum grid node based on what we know about Viri Inga O Tuki, and at Viri Inga O Tuki the best grid node is 21 km away (13 miles). Because the wave model grid is offshore, sometimes a strong offshore wind blows largest waves away from Viri Inga O Tuki and away from the coast.
