Don't be misled by the forecast of warm air temperatures at Long Sands because the water temperature at Long Sands is much colder (12 °C) than the air (23 °C) today. Surfers will need a decent quality spring wetsuit, gloves and boots and a hood if you expect to be duck-diving a lot. Feeling much more pleasant out of the water than in the sea today.

Long Sands sea temperatures peak in the range 17 to 21°C (63 to 70°F) on around the 9th of August and are at their lowest on about the 1st of March, in the range 2 to 4°C (36 to 39°F). The highest Long Sands sea temperatures in early to mid August require something like a 3/2mm fully sealed wetsuit. The lowest sea temperatures at Long Sands mean that you will need a flexible 6/5/4mm wetsuit or a well fitting 5/4mm wetsuit with gloves and 5mm neoprene booties and a hood to surf here at the beginning of March.
