Playa Samara in Golfo de Nicoya is an exposed beach and reef break that has fairly consistent surf and can work at any time of the year. Works best in offshore winds from the north. Tends to receive distant groundswells and the best swell direction is from the south southwest. The beach break offers both left and right hand waves and in addition, both left and right reef breaks add variety. When the surf is up, it can get quite busy in the water. Hazards include Rips, shallow outside reefs.
