The best wind direction is from the east northeast and there is no shelter here from cross shore breezes. Most of the surf here comes from groundswells and the ideal swell direction is from the west. Waves at the beach break both left and right and in addition, both left and right reef breaks add variety. Good surf at all stages of the tide. When the surf is up, it can get quite busy in the water. Dangerous rips are a hazard of surfing here.
