Shipwrecks in New Caledonia is an exposed reef break that usually has waves. Winter is the optimum time of year for surfing here. Ideal winds are from the east northeast. Clean groundswells prevail and the best swell direction is from the southwest. The quality of the surf isn't affected by the tide. Even when there are waves, it's not likley to be crowded. Hazards include Shallow reef, rocks and sharks.
