Tauranga Bay in West Coast South Island is an exposed beach and point break that has pretty consitent surf and can work at any time of the year. The best wind direction is from the east southeast with some shelter here from south winds. Able to handle light onshore wind Windswells and groundswells in equal measure and the ideal swell angle is from the west southwest. The beach breaks are all lefts and there is a left hand point break too. Good surf at all stages of the tide. Sometimes crowded. Submerged rocks are a hazard.
