Empty left in front of the watch-tower north of the river at high tide. Shoulder to head high and hollow at times but the cross-off wind made it a bit lumpy at this break as it is quite a long way from the shore. All the Gisborne breaks were howling onshore SSW and with some east swell running, Tolaga was a good option. Mahia north reefs would have been ok too.
