Nice waves at Fletchers that were cleaner inside than at the take-off rock because of shelter from the west wind. Generally shoulder to head-high but some bigger waves broke wide, peeling beyond the rocks at the east end of the bay. I had to be really careful to kick off before I ran out of beach. The combination of wind/swell could easily have left no alternative but to paddle out and drift to Farewell Spit. Even exiting inside the bay was tricky as there was a strong rip going out at the east side.
