Prainha Surf Guide
Prainha in Rio de Janeiro is a fairly exposed beach and reef break that has very consistent surf, although summer tends to be mostly flat. Works best in offshore winds from the northwest with some shelter here from west winds. Most of the surf here comes from groundswells and the ideal swell angle is from the south. The beach break provides left and right handers and there are also left and right hand reef breaks on offer. Good surf at all stages of the tide. Sometimes crowded. Watch out for - Man-made danger (buoys etc.) - Localism, rips.
