Taapuna in Tahiti is an exposed reef break that has very consistent surf. Winter is the optimum time of year for surfing here. Ideal winds are from the northeast. Most of the surf here comes from groundswells and the ideal swell angle is from the south southwest. A reef breaks left. The quality of the surf isn't affected by the tide. When it's working here, it can get crowded. Hazards include rips,fire coral and sharks.
