Tugun on the Gold Coast is an exposed beach break that has very consistent surf. Winter is the favoured time of year for surfing here. Works best in offshore winds from the southwest and there is no shelter here from cross shore breezes. Waves just as likely from local windswells as from distant groundswells and the ideal swell direction is from the east. The beach break offers both left and right hand waves. The quality of the surf isn't affected by the tide. Even when there are waves, it's not likley to be crowded. Beware of - Rips / undertow.
